Lori Straznicky, Executive Director of Special Projects, Labour Program, Pay Equity, Strategic Policy Analysis and Workplace Information Directorate

Lori Straznicky is the Executive Director of Special Projects in the Strategic Policy division of the

Labour Program at Employment and Social Development Canada. She leads the pay equity policy team that developed Canada’s Pay Equity Act for federal workplaces and that continues to work on the implementation of this new law. Lori also leads the policy development work on the Minister of Labour’s mandate commitment to mental health as well as the industrial relations strategic policy team.

Previously, Lori provided strategic advice on industrial relations issues as legal counsel to the Canada Industrial Relations Board and, as a lawyer in the private sector, she advised clients on a wide range of employment and human rights issues. She has represented clients before the Federal Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and both the Ontario and the Canadian Human Rights Tribunals. Lori holds a B.A. in English Literature from McGill University and a LL.B from the University of Ottawa. She is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario.
