Emanuela Heyninck, Former Ontario Pay Equity Commissioner, Special Advisor on Pay Equity to the Canadian Human Rights Commission
From 2005 to 2018, Emanuela Heyninck served as head of the Ontario Pay Equity Commission, mandated to enforce the Ontario Pay Equity Act, which aims to redress systemic gender compensation issues. In addition to its enforcement and education mandate, the Commission, under Ms. Heyninck’s leadership, initiated research and made recommendations to the Minister of Labour on issues related to pay equity, gender wage gaps, and women and work.
In April of 2015, Ms. Heyninck was one of four individuals appointed by the government to the Gender Wage Gap Strategy Steering Committee. The Committee sought public input into solutions to close the gender wage gap in Ontario. The Committee’s recommendations were submitted to the Minister of Labour in the spring of 2016.
Ms. Heyninck recently served as Special Advisor on Pay Equity to the Canadian Human Rights Commission that is in the process of implementing the Federal Pay Equity Act.
