Amanda Klarer

Amanda Klarer manages the Marcatus QED Responsible Farming Program and the award-winning Marcatus Mobile Education Platform – a gender-inclusive educational program designed to reach and empower thousands of smallholder farmers to adopt sustainable practices and improve their yields.
Amanda has spent many years working with and learning from smallholder farmers from around the world from cacao farmers in Cameroon, small scale oil palm & pepper farmers in Malaysia, sugar beet farmers in Morocco to pickling cucumber farmers in India. Using examples from her current work, she will discuss how the private sector can play a key role in uplifting farming communities and how efforts made can contribute to business sustainability.
She will discuss HOW and WHY Marcatus QED, a Toronto-based global agri-food solutions company, has spent many years working to uplift their smallholder supply chain and promote the use of sustainable agricultural practices, educate about dietary diversity and empower women through their various programs.
