Emma coordinates and executes programs, events, and other activities such as the Reporting Peer Review Program, webinars, Working Groups, and Network Update Calls, among other items. Another essential role Emma plays on the GCNC team is communications and content creation – Emma prepares proposals and presentations, and writes blogs, articles, and other thought-pieces.
Emma has experience with the World Health Organization in Phnom Penh, Cambodia where she consulted with key stakeholders and utilized her knowledge translation skills to develop an equity report on maternal, newborn and child health indicators in Cambodia. Prior to this experience, Emma spent time volunteering to reduce poverty in Honduras. As well, Emma has volunteered with Bracelet of Hope, an NGO committed to ending the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Lesotho and building capacity in the region by collaborating with women entrepreneurs affected by HIV/AIDS. Most recently, Emma has been working in the field of addictions and mental health by supporting clients in a long-term therapeutic community context.
Although Emma began her university career studying media production, she recently completed her Master’s Degree in International Development and Sociology at the University of Guelph. Emma also holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
During her studies, Emma developed strong research, writing, and analytical skills, as well a passion for global gender, health, and equity issues. Specifically, Emma has an interest in policy analysis and is dedicated to engaging businesses and building multi-stakeholder partnerships to address our world’s most challenging and ongoing sustainability issues.
